Holiday Open House, Wednesday, Dec. 3
The Old Church Gallery has had a very gratifying and successful year, and we’d like to invite you to celebrate with us. Holiday Open House at the Gallery house, 110 Wilson St., Floyd, on Wednesday, December 3rd, 4 – 6 p.m.

Some of the highlights of our year included:
- Folk Art February, a virtual exhibit of some of our favorite things in the collections.
- Kindly Mirrors, a collection of photographs by Richard Miles “Dick” Shank and Gertrue Vest Shank traveled to three different places this year: the Jessie Peterman Library in Floyd, the Floyd Center for the Arts, and the Glencoe Mansion in Radford.
- Our featured exhibit for the year was Memories Sit Here, a collection of more than three dozen benches, chairs, stools, etc. The exhibit closes on December 20, 2025.
- Going along with the theme of chairs and sitting, we held a Musical Chairs House Party on June 25, including a number of local musicians,
- Gallery volunteer Kathleen Ingoldsby has written several articles for the new online Floyd Times that reveal the stories and cultural history of items in the Gallery’s collections along with recollections from our Floyd Story Center oral history interviews.

We were pleased to be granted funds from the Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia’s Larry Woodrow Vest Fund and Community Foundation of the New River Valley’s Mary P. Risacher Endowment and Atherton-Jenkins Family Fund for improvements to the Gallery House, including exterior storm water remediation and house foundation work. And, we’re also grateful this year for contributions from Skyline Bank and Carter Bank & Trust.
In addition to coming to our Open House, please think of us on Giving Tuesday, which happens one day earlier. You can donate by clicking on this link or on the image below.

If you’re considering a year-end donation of any amount, we’d love to find your giving spirit under our tree!
