1978

Opens with art exhibits and a mission to create a Cultural Center for Floyd County to include art, theater, history, music, book discussions and class space, located in the historic Presbyterian Church Building on Main Street.

1979

Begins monthly series of one-man shows.

Receives volunteer staffing from Floyd County Woman’s Club, VPI Extension, and Retired Senior Volunteer Program groups.

1980

Partners with VPI Extension Service to present the first summer Children’s Art Workshop.

Establishes monthly historical exhibits in recognition of the Floyd County Sesquicentennial (partners for specific months include Extension, Ruritans, Ministerial Association, Historical Society).

1981

Gains nonprofit, tax-exempt status.

OCG presents monthly historical exhibits in recognition of the Floyd County Sesquicentennial (partners for specific months include Extension, Ruritans, Floyd County Ministerial Association, Historical Society).

Designs and prints 1981 Sesquicentennial Calendar.

1982

Establishes a monthly Book Discussion group.

Receives first historical artifacts donated by Katherine See.

1983

Establishes a History Museum Committee.

1986

Organizes the Old Church Gallery Quilters Guild Committee.

1989

Sponsors the Floyd Theater Group which plans to present yearly plays.
