Our quilt collection is the largest of our textile categories with more than sixty hand-quilted or tacked quilts, quilt squares, and pieced tops. Quilts differ from coverlets in that quilts are pieces of cloth sewn together in layers, while coverlets are woven as single pieces from thread. A number of the quilts in this collection have been documented and registered with the Virginia Quilt Registry.

The centerpiece of our collection is a set of thirty-two quilt blocks based upon patterns popularized in early America. Effie King Brown researched and sewed this sampler to commemorate the United States Bicentennial. A charter member of the Old Church Gallery Quilters Guild, Mrs. Effie continued quilting into her late nineties. Our collection also includes the last quilt she completed.
