Floyd County High School, Old Church Gallery, Ltd., and Radford University partnered in our Roots With Wings Place-based Education oral history project. College mentors, high school staff, and a dedicated community non-profit partner met weekly during the school year to teach the art of oral history collection and digital recording to high school students. Every student listed below contributed to the recording, presentation, and preservation of the oral history archives.
Our inaugural 2007-2008 group of high school students and Radford University mentors met over two semesters to learn the lore and lessons of collecting Floyd County oral history. The work of the Old Church Gallery and our Radford University (RU) and Floyd County High School (FCHS) partners launched our Floyd Story Center archives now holding over one hundred interviews and related resource material.
