Crocheted Garden Hat
PeopleMaker/Creator: Winnie Kate Hylton Boone
PlacesBurks Fork (Burks Fork District)
Plastic bread bags
- Diameter of brim: 14 1/2 inches
- Height of crown: 5 inches
This garden hat was crocheted from bread bags cut into strips, a similar technique to that of crocheting strips of cloth into rag rugs. Beginning at the crown, the hat was crocheted in a spiral outward and shaped to a custom fit. Reusing plastic bags made for a colorful and practical garden hat, blocking sun and easily hosed off when dirty.
