Description

This wooden bell has a hole drilled in the top for a short handle attached to a wooden print with carved floral design bordered with two concentric circles. Freshly churned butter would be packed in the bell, then pushed out onto a saucer by using the handle as a plunger.

This mold was purchased at a Mannon family auction. Prior to World War II, most of the county farmers kept milk cows for home use and most kitchens would have had a similar tool.
