Description

This quilt is designed to be displayed as a bedcover. It features a center square pieced from 1 3/4 inch squares in bright cotton solids and prints. Concentric frames of pieced squares alternate with solid white borders. An additional strip of pieced squares runs along one width to accent the pillows at the head of the bed. It is hand-quilted in rows and half feathers.

This pattern is also known as “Garden Path.” This quilt was constructed from a kit. Popular in the 1930s and beyond, kits offered quilters the convenience of having all the needed materials at hand and precut ready to sew.
