Keywords
Two-shaft weft-faced coverlet, Vaughn's Woolen MillBio Sketch
The earliest known owners of this coverlet were Sherman Waitman Hylton and Lenora Ellen Hylton Hylton who were married in 1903. It was passed down to their son Leroy Vasco, who was the youngest of ten children (Otie, Ferry, Unice, Moy, Netaree, Wadalee, June, Norene, Ethalene, and Vasco).
Notes
While this two-shaft weft-faced woven coverlet is sturdy, it is not as soft and drapable as the overshot coverlets in our collection (which were woven using four heddles/shafts). The wool threads are packed tightly together.
