Description
This emblem of school spirit consists of navy felt wings surrounding a white felt oval. Red initials CHS are appliqued in place. A straight pin would have been used to attach this to the student’s clothing.

Effie K. Brown (1910-2012) was valedictorian of the Check High School Class of 1928. She taught at several one-room schools and at Check High School. After the three high schools at Check, Willis, and Floyd consolidated into Floyd County High School in 1962, Mrs. Effie served as principal of Check Elementary School.
